Red Onion Saloon

Skagway may not be known for its entertainment sector but it does offer enough places and things to do for visitors looking for different ways to enjoy themselves in the small town.  Tourists can relax and hang out at the cafes and restaurants, take a stroll downtown, visit the numerous wildlife and attraction sites, check out the nightlife and special events, etc.

A recommended show for all ages is the Days of ’98 Show with Soapy Smith, located at Eagle Hall on Broadway Avenue.  There is both a day and evening show.  This drama tells the tale of “Soapy” Smith and the Gold Rush period in Skagway.

The Bonanza Bar & Grill, located on Broadway is considered to be a bit of a “sports bar”, perfect for guys who just want to hang out with friends and watch TV while relaxing with a cold beer or Guinness.  Moe’s Frontier Bar is also located at Broadway and is highly popular among the locals.  There are special guest performances on Friday nights.

The Red Onion Saloon was built in 1898.  It was an exclusive brothel, and today it is a brothel museum and bar & restaurant.  Bands perform occasionally and it can be quite a happening place.
